Local business ads on the restaurant counter, without the pile of business cards.

CounterSpace is a picture-frame style color e-ink display that sits by the register and rotates full-page ads for local businesses. The restaurant earns a share of every advertiser's monthly subscription.

7.3" color e-ink in a slim frame. Runs on USB power. No glare, no glow.
How it works

Scan, pay, upload a card. The display does the rest.

1

The restaurant puts a display on the counter

Each display shows a QR code and a short board code. It connects to the restaurant's Wi-Fi once and then runs on its own.

2

A local business scans the code and signs up

They pick a plan, pay a monthly subscription, and upload a photo of their business card.

3

The card becomes a full-page ad

The ad is generated from the card, approved by the advertiser, and reviewed by CounterSpace before it goes live on the board.

Each ad shows for about 90 seconds at a time

Color e-ink changes pages slowly and holds the image with no power, so the display cycles through ads at a reading pace rather than flashing.

The restaurant gets paid every month

A share of each active subscription on the board is paid out to the restaurant automatically through Stripe.

For restaurants

One display, no cards to tidy, and a monthly payout.

  • The display costs about $100. There is no monthly fee for the restaurant.
  • You earn $5 a month from every Standard advertiser on your board, and more from the larger plans.
  • You choose which kinds of businesses can advertise. Competing restaurants can be blocked.
  • The board holds up to 20 advertisers. A full board pays the restaurant $100 or more a month.
  • Setup takes a few minutes: plug it in, join its setup Wi-Fi from your phone, enter your network password.

Pilot program

CounterSpace is starting with a small number of restaurants in the Treasure Valley. Pilot restaurants get the display at cost and help set the plan prices and rotation timing.

Pilot locations: Caldwell, Nampa, Meridian, Boise.

For advertisers

Your business card, as a full-page ad, in front of people paying at the counter.

You don't need to design anything. Upload a photo of your business card and CounterSpace builds the ad: your logo, your phone number, your website, and a QR code people can scan from the counter. You approve it before it runs.

Start from a board

Every display shows a QR code. Scan it, or enter the board code below, to see that restaurant's open slots and plans.

Pay monthly, cancel any time

Subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe. Cancel from your dashboard and the ad comes off the board at the end of the period.

See how often it ran

Your dashboard shows which boards you are on, your display minutes, and how many times the ad was shown.
